[Yr11 Information Technology] 1:1 Ipads and Netbooks

We at Lara SC moved to iPads starting 2013. No problems, a really smooth platform change. 11-12s are BYOD. All devices student owned. 7s coming in with netbooks were supported but soon changed over anyway. We kept netbooks bookable for the odd kid with no device and had 10 lendable iPads in the library for kids whose devices were in for repair. The main issue is establishing rules about use. Students line up and close all apps before entering class. We now have tubs or pigeon holes where iPads go at the start, to be used when instructed. Worst problem was kids watching videos at recess and lunch, using up download. Feel free to call or visit. Speak to Sascha Foster, ICT Admin. Similar to our current setup we have student owned iPads now from 7 to 9 and Netbooks 10 to 12. Some draft plans to replace the netbooks with iPads and permit some "bring any device” at year 12.
