Hi All

I use visual studio on an OLD mac (mid 2012). in the past I used Virtual Box FREE open source
The only issue I ever had was that I had to sleep the virtual windows machine BEFORE i put the mac to sleep

After a few years (and a part time job on the side to earn money) I splashed and purchased a VMware licence. It IS better

VMware behaves like a mac app and sleeps the virtual machine seamlessly.

The new virtual box appears better than in the old days and it is FREE.

Any students doing sof dev should be able to handle the install themselves without issues

The old mac has an SSD in the DVD drive position and extra RAM so runs quite well.
