Doing a bit of reading up on what DET has out there for eLearning and
planning. Came across this little gem
__________________________________________________________________
Schools require three major groups of software in addition to standard
PC operating systems:
* Networking software, including network managing programs and
anti-virus software
* Microsoft licensed software and standard applications
* Software that is used for eLearning.

As some of you would know from other lists, I am trying to put together
a bit of a picture of what and where schools are at with regard to
dealing with long-term readability of e-work. Haven't found squat about
any suggestions or even addressing the issue at the Department level.
Mind you there is a lot to plough through and I haven't got through all
of it yet. (Mr Plough, that's my name. That name again is Mr Plough)
From some replies I have had, it seems people tend to think I mean
about physical storage, not the future readability issue.
(Reckon there could be some sort of thesis dealing with this issue ;) )
I didn't address the original request for comments about this issue to
this list as I knew it was fairly irrelevant to those dealing with OSS...
Cheers
Cameron
