[Moodle] Student learning Goals

Has anyone crafted a solution to managing the collection of Student Learning
Goals yet?

Last year we used Moodle journals to collect student goals and comments and
then cut and pasted these into Markbook. As it was out first attempt we only
did it with year 7&8. This year we aim to do it with years 7-10 which is a
far greater collection pool. Using a journal in Moodle has its problems
(when exported from MySQL html control characters are included) although it
also has potential. I also thought about using a database across the network
but it would have to have restrictions so that students only see their own
entries and would not be able to change each others entries.

As anyone else thought this through?
