[Moodle] email error

Can anyone point me in the right direction to correct my email issue?

Since upgrading the email confirm and any email stuff has not been
functioning (meaning I have to manually confirm all new accounts, but
also forum posts etc are not being sent out.

I have looked where I thought it may be... in the admin area, but can't
work it out.

When I run the cron thingy this is the type of error message I get

Error: mod/forum/cron.php: Could not send out mail for id 367 to user
233 (all0015 at emc.vic.edu.au) .. not trying again.
ERROR: Could not instantiate mail function.

And

Warning:  Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in
/var/www/localhost/htdocs/backup/backuplib.php on line 2095





Any ideas?
