Paula,
I first meet you at a 1990's ACCE conference in Melbourne at a time when
school dot-matrix printers still buzzed with excitement from banner mania
or Lotus 123. Tomorrow there will be a gathering of important binary bards,
distinguished by particularly long cloud-generating clay pipes, who will
pen songs and poems about your accomplishments and deeds that will
henceforth resonate through our school hallways by a small army of jolly
minstrels.
Thank you for all you have done to raise the bar with Digital Technologies
in Australia and help educators inspire the next generation of children.
I will hum these bars for you
"If I could ping
I'd share a packet with you
A sequence of hidden features
With a slashed zero glyph
And a million lines
Wouldn't do a thing
That won’t be done with three lines
when a loop or repeat will do
If I could trace anything at all,
I'd trace route it to you"
Lyrics by Amanda Rablin and myself from "ACCE2016 The Musical" , apologies
to 1927 Ish "If I could .."
