To Paul and Kevork...
your discussion on the server setups you both have tried has my curiosity...could either of you shoot me a link so I could look into it for myself, or point me in a suitable direction....it sounds interesting given the directions our devices are taking us..
Any particular hardware requirements as a minimum??
Kent.

Hi Kevork,
Yep - it certainly would be a solution. I had set up PyWebDav under win32
at home so that my son's ipad can be backed up, so am familiar with what
you describe. (PyWebDav works really well, in case you're interested)
We are trying to duck-and-weave around issues of institutional approval and
notoriously restrictive firewalls, so I "live in hope" that there would be
a suitable device-to-device (P2P) solution. Not one that I've stumbed into
yet, though.
Thanks for the info!
Cheers,
