Hi all,
Have just completed(3 terms worth, term 4 TBC) my year 8 units of work for 2010 and, as I type this AND watch the Grand Final, I am also developing the year 9 units for next year. I must confess, doing this planning task has caused me to make some adjustments on the scope of the units, thats gotta be a good thing.
I am posting these for those who wish to use them and will post the year 9 units when done likely later next week.
Can I ask those who open/read/use these to please give me some constructive written feedback as I am trying to improve the planning side and doc writing is not exactly one of my strengths. Please refer to which unit you are offering comment on when submitting this to me.
Why post this? Well its that time of year when some of us are looking to next year, attending annual review meetings(feel free to use mine if it makes you look good to the boss!), or just want to make it easier for those newbies looking for a hand up(not a hand out).
Attached are the current batch of files(9 files-3 per term) for your use and critique.. Following later next week will be the year 9 docs and a spreadsheet which matches the unit titles for 4 terms...just add your own students names and off you go!
However, you will need to use your own skills and potentially create your own worksheets...remember, these are just unit planning documents, NOT individual lesson plans.
cheers,
Kent.

Me? Finally have access to some now superseded hardware formerly from our network and am using about a half dozen machines as "sacrifices" to learn about the fun of ripping apart and rebuilding hardware...the kids LOVE it!
Your right Kent. I have just finished a semester y9 subject called "Buying and Maintaining a Computer". We pulled old computers a part etc. The kids think its great. They have no idea whats in a computer or what the parts are called or more importantly what effect they have on output and effectiveness.
I have attached several of the worksheets I used.
Cheers all.

"Scope and Sequence" documentation...
some of us love that sentence..and some dont! I really hope it includes year levels TOGETHER WITH 'VELS' levels.
However, given the extremely wide gap in what is taught in various schools with their differing available tools and skillsets, there will, no doubt, STILL be discussions....
eg. mid school multi-media subjects offered at some schools, whilst others still are just able to offer basic WP, SS and DB apps perhaps with a little multi-media thrown in for good measure.
Me? Finally have access to some now superseded hardware formerly from our network and am using about a half dozen machines as "sacrifices" to learn about the fun of ripping apart and rebuilding hardware...the kids LOVE it!
Cheers all..
Must get back to writing my curriculum docs and doing interim reports..ho hum...oh, and teaching too!
Kent.

Hi all,
Good to read Paula say today, "The good news is that at the moment ICT,
like literacy and numeracy, are high on ACARA's agenda for development."
Great .. a well integrated, and still flexible, ICT scope and sequence,
with content & achievment, across Australia. Sounds like a kid SuperNet
coming up? A SelfHelp Community of kids taking Australia's ICT Sequence
education, which would soon be a big bonus for them and .Au if well run.

[Yr7-10it] New National Curriculum
Hi Anne and colleagues
I understand that there will be a scope and sequence developed for ICT
(content and achievement standards). How it will appear in the curriculum
documents is still under consideration. For example, in the current four
study areas being developed, it is possible that in some instances ICT
may actually be embedded in the content of these studies e.g. use ICT to
represent data in graph form (in maths); in other instances the ICT
content may be illustrated through the content elaborations (examples) in
each of these studies. How the rest will be handled, I'm not certain. The
good news is that at the moment ICT, like literacy and numeracy, are high
on ACARA's agenda for development.
Regards
Paula
