Just downloaded 'Scratch' and tried it with some of my year 8's ...Talk about easy to learn!!!! Wow..
I also like that it shows a structured approach and uses 'correct structure' in building of a script to use with a sprite. Maybe some of the seniors could learn a lesson or 2 from this style of program.
This could be used to encourage some of the more 'challenged' students who want to get 'into' programming but find the higher level languages too cumbersome to pick up. You know what they say....walk before fun(I mean run!)..no I mean fun!!
In short.. a great intro to programming that is quick to learn.
And I only used it for 10 minutes!!!!
Good one MIT developers. A potentially useful and fun learning tool...
Will try the other one mentioned in this list from the Hungry software site shortly...let you know what happens....
Here's a thought...hmmm...I wonder if this program would fit the bill for Unit 2 outcome 1, the learning curve is really flat...
Perhaps it might not contain enough challenge for that level, I wonder???

Subject: [Yr7-10it] Gamemaker Course Outline
Hi all,
Has anyone got a course outline or course plan for gamemaker? To have it run at my school, I need to submit a course proposal. If anyone has one already prepared, I would appreciate a copy. Also I will need to justify from an educational perspective the value in offering gamemaker. Any suggestions here would be greatly appreciated.
Regards
Michael Martin
