[Yr11 Information Technology] U1O1 for 2020

For me, I’m starting to look at where the students will need to be in 2021 for Data Analytics should they choose and find a middle ground. Give them the basics of Access (if that’s your chosen platform) – ie. Tables & Queries, Basic forms and reports.

I’m also in the boat that I’m teaching a combined AC/DA class next year. My Year 11s next year may end up getting the normalisation chat – but that’s my class and I’m still in the planning process.

It also depends on where they’re coming in. My Year 11s will be coming in with no database experience whatsoever, yet my Year 12s are in the process of finishing off their U2O3 SAC pretty soon.

Yes, but how much of Databases? There’s nothing on Normal form, just a little on database software. So if student access a database to extract data for their data visualisation, is that enough. Or do I need to cover the functionality of Access.  I’m really trying to find out how much I should be covering for U1O1.

The Area of Study outline and KK for U1O1 (Approaches to problem solving) would suggest that is the case.
