Hi Andrew,

How is talking cheating??? Students can demonstrate knowledge and skills aside from a test. I don't use any tests in Unit 1/2 apart from the mid-year and end of year exams.

Unit 2 Outcome 2 - I cannot imagine a class where kids are expected to do this in silence, to think that they would is CRAZY. Just because they are talking doesn't mean that they are cheating, they could be emailing each other their code. You can justify it by saying that they have completed a journal in which they have demonstrated their knowledge and what they have learnt. You can also have an oral discussion with a student to gauge their knowledge...

Regards

David

>>Outcome 5, where the kids track their development in programming is one such example - they should be asking questions, helping and interacting with each other.

I believe what you say but how do I justify ths position? Where does it say students should be interacting with others and this is cheating isnt it.
