I'd have to say that named cells & ranges are a really basic and important
early skill. It makes spreadsheets SO much easier to read, and allows very
meaningful vlookups. e.g. VLOOKUP(A4,taxtable,2)
I teach kids to use named ranges so they don't have to bother with those
hideous $ and ! sheet/cell references!
BTW - I'd do VLOOKUP. Very valuable. And I'd do cell protection.
Macros? Yeah - leave them 'til year 12.
Cheers
Mark
