[Yr11 Information Technology] actionscript query to Maggie

Hi Maggie,
How easy is it to 'pick up' actionscript? I've never used it but given what I am hearing around the traps from other listers, it seems to have a decent following. I am always willing to stress myself out to learn new stuff for the kids to keep the classes interesting (and to keep up numbers!).
Whatcha reckon? Got any great online links to easy to use sites for tutes etc.
What hardware is needed or just a basic PC platform will do?
As long as its all 'user side' and not ' server side' I will be fine due to access rights on our network here(dont ask!).
Kent.

AFAIK, the programming Outcome is a folio of tasks, each of which is progressively harder. Your students may not venture forth into heavy programming but it is possible to give folios with a smaller increment of learning.

The boys in my classes tend to use only colours like black, grey and white. The girls make interfaces a bit more lively. And to watch the boys gaze in shock when they see an easy-to-read interface is delightful.

Actionscript is really rough to teach but perhaps others have been more successful at this than I.

Maggie

Hi List, I was wondering if anyone has any ideas for U2 O1???

I have a very weak class of gilrs and all SACs I have found focus on VB programming. My girls will all leave the class in droves if I taught them VB!

I was wanting to create a SAC using Flash and teaching them basic Actionscript through gaming or movie clip animation to make it more interesting. Does anyone have any ideas??
