Hi all,

I have a couple of questions about the new training package
setup for next year. I have a new group of year 11's starting into the
ICA05 course doing the Applications stream. In year 11, they will be
doing the Certificate II, but it is not attractive to many students
because they don't get the full credit in year 11 if they do a VCE IT
unit 1&2 also.

As a "sweetener" to these guys, I would like to offer the full Cert 3.
that way, they get something complete and tangible at the end of year
12, plus they get the bonus 10% on their ENTER score.

I am trying to se if there is any way others have thought as to how
students can complete the Certificate III and get the bonus credit,
without which, when combined with the fact that students doing Unit 1&2
VCE IT as well, they don't get the full credit.

One thought I have had, was to choose a couple of electives that
students could do the majority of the hours from home and keep some sort
of log book. For example, ICPMM321A, Capture a Digital Image. The way I
was thinking was that if we provide the theory just before the holidays,
students could take photos, upload them, edit & crop them, bring them
back to school and pass an assessable task. As long as they meet those
criteria, and their parent's sign off on the hours completed, then can
we sign them off as competent?

Cheers
