[Technical] School video display information systems

Greetings all.
 
Two years ago at Rosebud Secondary we visited the idea of creating a distributed video information system around the College that would carry messaging, timetables, announcements, examples of students work etc. With the huge rebuilding of the college at the time, money for this project was not available. 
 
Now, our AP would like to revisit the project. 
 
We did visit one such example at Langwarrin, and we intend to look at that again. However do any other schools out there employ such a system, or does anyone know of a system that is available suitable for a secondary college's budget?
