Hi Vic

make certain that they chose windows form - it is not always in teh same spot as before
make sure that they did not delete the very first line of code that makes it a form or the very last line of code - a frequent error ( the last line that is),

if they did they can often copy all of the code into a new windows form and SOMETIMES that is enough - be careful that if the first line of form is still there that it is not duplicated
sometimes they delete the resource file - cause they do not know what it is
sometimes they only backup form not the resource and then they choose to use the backup not the PROJECT

to back up: the project must be closed, then copied — the WHOLE project folder (use meaningful project names)

do they have backups and versions?
teach about version control, back up , backup with another name, testing of backups, back up to a usb stick, etc

Hope that they stop randomly deleting lines in teh code

make them start again more carefully
They certainly do it a lot quicker on the third time through and rarely make the wsiwyg go away after three attempts !! (well my students got better anyway)

The solution will run ok, but the WYSIWYG design view disappears. Not all students are experiencing it, but enough of them to make it frustrating for them to have to restart their interface designs.
