Hi All,
Please find attached an updated version of my SAT marking spreadsheet that I sent out last November. Feel free to use it or ignore it as you like. But if you do use it, I'd appreciate feedback and suggestions for improvement.
Regards,
Chris

Subject: SAT Evaluation Criteria
Hello again,
Inspired by Phil's checklist, here's a spreadsheet that I developed last year to try to quantify student performance on the SAC. Based on my experience last year and collaborating with Vi Tran, here's what I came up with.
While it is not perfect, it does enable a teacher to discriminate levels of student performance that is > 90% consistent with the SAT evaluation criteria (the 8 sheets). It enables a score out of 10 for each line on each sheet, and then converts each sheet to an overall score out of 10. Each field prompts you for the actual measure and scale for each item, so it's nearly foolproof. Please take a look and provide feedback on its appropriateness or improvements. I know there are a couple of contentious items in there (such as a mark for developing evaluation criteria for the project management, which isn't explicitly asked for, but if we're evaluating it and we practise what we preach then we need some criteria for the evaluation), but I (we) couldn't think of any other way to find coherent measures to arrive at a score out of 10.
It will probably need to be updated next year anyway (once we attend the SAT workshop), but with a little more clear air than usual, now might be a good time to start thinking about it. If nothing else, it might inspire a discussion about what measures we use to assess each criterion. :)
Regards,
Chris
