[Year 12 SofDev] Level of Programming Support

Hi Carlin

I’m using a similar approach using C# in Visual Studio. Class has a very wide range of abilities so I’m starting with console applications and moving to GUIs and events over the next week.
I started with a number of algorithms to do with simple numeric problems that point toward the use of data structures and searching - the focus of their first SAC module next week.
Homework task was to generate a grade and comment based on a student mark; easy but focussed on use of selection. Next stage will extend it to use data structures and iteration.
I’m using algorithms sourced from paste exam papers. I’m hoping if they can read them they have a chance of coding them.

Cheers,

Brett

The function of the program doesn’t make sense in hindsight, but it was interesting to see where some students excelled, and others struggled with it. This was mainly to try and support the students who did not complete Units 1&2

I know there are a lot of learning platforms that give tutorials, but looking to support the students for the specific case studies/programming tasks they are asked to complete during U3O1 to support them for the rest of the year. Is it a worthwhile investment of time to have the students be given these tasks?
