Hi All,
Earlier this week I gave the students a little programming task to complete. The function of the program doesn't make sense in hindsight, but it was interesting to see where some students excelled, and others struggled with it. This was mainly to try and support the students who did not complete Units 1&2
The program:
1. Generate Random Number (1-100)
2. Add to TextBox1
3. Give number a Grade Letter
4. Add to Textbox 2
This program, was to help students understand how to use variables efficiently and the difference in branching systems (Multiple If Statements vs. Switch Case)
After they submitted their attempts, I recorded this video with explanation on how to possibly go about creating the application (Pseudocode was discussed in class).

As a first time SofDev teacher, I am wondering if this is a beneficial/useful way of supporting students to practice their programming in U3O1. I know there are a lot of learning platforms that give tutorials, but looking to support the students for the specific case studies/programming tasks they are asked to complete during U3O1 to support them for the rest of the year. Is it a worthwhile investment of time to have the students be given these tasks?
**Self-taught programmer, please let me know if I have stuffed up anywhere
Kind Regards,
