[Year 12 SofDev] 'fi' and 'fl' missing in 2012 exam papers

Sorry, I had a look on Adobe and it seems to be working. Might just be "Preview" (Apple app) that does this. :-(

I thought this was just for the SD paper, but just printed off a 2012 Bus Man paper for one of my homeroom kids. 
Same thing. 

Any ideas how to avoid this? Why have the papers available if they can't be easily read?
