Hi Peter, you didn't say what language you are using. 
You can use the 'help' for your particular language to complete the attached work sheet on data types. 
After filling in the table students are asked to write a program to demonstrate each data type. ( good introduction to validation).
Kent also put out an excellent work sheet on data types last year.

Hi all,

I'm teaching Software Development for the first time next year, it's also the first year that the subject will have run at my school so I haven't got any resources. 

I'm holding off on getting the textbook until Adrian Janson has released the new version, this makes it particularly difficult to plan my orientation week. 

Does anyone have any suitable resources for an orientation week?
