[Year 12 SofDev] OSI (and other) CISCO videos

Hi Folks,

For those who aren't familiar with the Cisco Academy Program, this gives an insight into the nature of the education cisco instructors and students enjoy thanks to an amazing curriculum.
Cisco spend millions on this material as they need well qualified people in the field to deploy their equipment successfully.  The online learning tools include animation, simulation ( packettracer ), instant detailed feedback, adaptive testing ( if you get questions on the physical layer wrong, the online test automatically adapts to ask more of that type of question rather than a static set of predetermined questions ) and much more.

It is for this reason I feel Cisco instructors are fortunate and spoilt in that they don't have to prepare the raw material that makes up the curriculum unlike VCE teachers. Cisco instructors still have to adapt the material for the cohort but there is no dispute about the "scope" of the curriculum, the definitions, the practical tasks, which textbook to use etc.

Thanks, Andrew. That OSI coverage was very informative, especially about the transmission overheads and the differences between bandwidth, throughput and goodput.
