Dear colleagues

At the moment the scope of the use case diagram is identified in Bulletin Supplement, November 2010 http://www.vcaa.vic.edu.au/correspondence/bulletins/2010/November/2010NOVSUP2.pdf (page 5)

This scope should inform both the teaching and assessment practices for schools and for the Software Development examination. Shortly a set of sample examination questions will be published on the VCAA website and this will also assist in defining the depth of treatment.

Regards
Paula

Thanks, Adrian. IIRC, the system boundary is optional, and according to one source it's rarely used.

With all the flavours and styles of UCD, I'd like to see us settle on a standard style that we and the examiners will be happy with. A local style guide, sort of thing. That way we can more easily concentrate on the basic concepts and spend less time haggling about stylistic details.

In ITA we gravitated towards a simple, standard (activity on arrow), simple (no optimistic/pessimistic estimates) PERT chart that people were happy to use. We seem to be happy with our DFD rules and style. Having the same for these new UCDs would be a relief for many furrowed brows, I reckon.

Do people think this is worthwhile?

	Hi Mark (and all),

Great diagram! There should be a system boundary around all of the use cases (representing RWT). I also think that the installer performing the installation is not really needed - but that's just my 5c! The diagram is also about as big as it needs to be really for a use case - as the tool is not intended to be used in a granular way (add another 2c - up to 7c now!)

	Cheers,

	Adrian

Hi all. Thanks to those (including Chris, one of our clever techies) for contributing to the UCD at

(It's still open for editing - please annotate your changes to explain your logic).

It has grown into quite a complex beast... I'm not sure how many kids could handle something of that complexity in an outcome.
