[Year 12 SofDev] FW: U4O1 question

I think there is a brief coverage of interpreters and compilers and IDEs
on p56 of the Dawson/Janson. There is also some discussion about
testing, debugging, breakpoints etc. from p148-153
Maybe there should be more than this. I am not sure.
But a good text editor would not be a thing from the past I think, nor
are compilers and interpreters. Not for PHP, Java or Python anyway.

Subject: [Year 12 SofDev] FW: U4O1 question
Folks - I didn't get any replies to this question. It is something we
could be examined about, but I honestly don't know what it is on
about......
I could not find it specifically treated in the Janson text. Allan
Barnes' text talks about linkers and loaders, which I don't think are
relevant in today's programming environment, but I could be wrong. Any
insights would be appreciated.

Subject: U4O1 question
Folks - one of the key knowledge points in U4O1 is "applications and
purposes of utilities in a programming environment".
I haven't done any serious programming for 15 years, and honestly
wouldn't know of any utilities currently used for this purpose. Linkers,
loaders and editors (utilities of the distant past) are all integrated
these days. Any suggestions?
Frank
