Dear Friends,
The mailing lists operate through the kind financial support of subject associations, the VCAA and a number of other sponsors. These sponsors have a financial model they operate within and this has to be kept in mind by edulists. These sponsors have only 1 aim and that is the best educational outcomes for their members and the education community. Obviously without a financial model they cannot exist.
There is no censoring of posts as long as they meet the netiquette guidelines of Edulists as found at www.edulists.com.au . The only modification to these guidelines is :
10. "Infomercials", announcements regarding Professional Development, courses, conferences, and any other "advertising" needs to be approved by the moderator of Edulists Kevork Krozian ( mobile: 0419 356 034 ) prior to posting to any list.
The reason for this is to avoid any impression of "conflict" between activities or events. It is for that reason that I have asked for these announcements to be cleared by the moderator - moi - before posting. I can't imagine that there would be any reason to say no except if there is an overlap with a sponsors' activities.
It would be naive, and ignorant of the moderator to expect that a sponsor of edulists does not mind if there are announcements on edulists by associations and others eg publishers, commercial organisations or any other entity that may overlap with the sponsors' activities. Sorry if that is stating a commercial reality.
In a global sense, it is not ok for organisations that I have not met nor have any communication with to simply splash announcements of their events to recruit business without any communication with the moderator. My door is always open and my mailbox always ready as is my phone to talk to any organisation that wishes to further education especially in any area not just ICT or Digital Learning or elearning or open source software.
I hope everyone is ok with that. Feel free to call me or email me off list if you have a counter opinion please as I would prefer to discuss this in private in the first instance.
As this will be posted to all the lists please excuse the repetition if it is received more than once.
Best Wishes
Kevork Krozian
