This is really cool. I have some questions about this which proved a problem last time I tried this sort of stuff. If anyone could answer it would be appreciated. I have no current install of Linux but will consider it if this functionality is available.
1. Can you use your existing WIN XP partition as the virtual drive instead of creating a virtual disk?
2. Will drivers work properly through the virtual machine (I have no Linux drivers for some of my hardware)?
3. Will you be able to play 3D games will full video card support?
Cheers

Subject: [Opensource] Running windows applications seamlessly inside Linux
This is a fascinating tutorial. I cannot wait to give this
a try using Ubuntu boot on my laptop or desktop at home. This will give me a workaround to
running things like our reporting system on a Linux desktop without needing to reboot the computer. A seamless desktop is the way to go. Think of how Macintosh users have been able to use parallels to run Windows applications seamlessly and you get the idea. :-)

Last year I had fun teaching students how to use virtual machines to give them exposure to installing and playing about with different operating systems. Whilst we have been using VMWare to create virtual servers for our enterprise setup, I'll switch to using VirtualBox.
