Hi Alan,

We have both MAC and PC platforms at Mooroolbark College running beautifully.
Below is our answer to your question

Do I need to have a Mac server? What can I use for imaging the 30 iMacs? Authentication on the network? More questions which I haven't thought of yet.

Best way is to have a mac server to be able to manage the mac settings. Imaging can be done using deploy studio but does need a mac server to run. All imaging for macs need a mac server. Authentication can be done off the mac server or 2008 domain if that's what they are running by using whats known as the magic triangle where the auth is from the Active directory and the client management is from the mac server.

Regards,
Rachael

Hi all,

I would like to know if there are schools out there which have both Mac and PC computer labs. If so (and I am sure there are), what does it take to have them running smoothly.

(Background). We are primarily a Windows school, running Windows Servers 2008 R2. We have several PC computer labs. One of the labs is coming up for renewal and one of the options was to replace it with Macs with a new primary school curriculum.

Do I need to have a Mac server? What can I use for imaging the 30 iMacs? Authentication on the network? More questions which I haven't thought of yet.

Basically, what do I need to arm myself with to manage both camps?

Thanks for listening to the ramblings.

Best Regards,

Alan Oh
