We have moved to Daymap
http://www.daymap.net/index.htm
The driving reason was to provide yet another critical app other than
reports that would force staff to use their laptops in class.
It provides period by period attendance, staff notes, class notes etc etc.
We are using a stripped down version, the full version is a LMS but we
are only using the attendance module.
It is updated daily from First class so that all the rolls are accurate.
The introduction saw an absolute mountain of absences (which the old
system failed to pickup - mainly due to teachers forgetting to submit
the "discrepencies" between the official morning roll and their class
roll), but once the students found that they were now being picked up
every period, the list has dropped to pretty much genuine absences.
Coordinators love it, office staff took some getting used to it, but
agree its now no more or no less work on their behalf. Some of this is
due to a current mix of old and new practices that have to be ironed out
to take full advantage of the system.
Problem: It exports to CASES21, but once it is in there, you can only
see the data but not do anything with it. The new student at risk
initiative is problematic as Daymap only exports absences, not full
attendance. This is being fixed by the makers at the moment.
Cheers
Cameron
