[Moodle] usernames in potential users

I need to find a hack to include usernames in the potential users in assign students. Emails and surnames are time consuming to say the least when you want to enroll a whole year level for 200 students. We use a username such as bloogjo.y10 (y10 being the year level). Im sure other schools must have the same issue when enrolling a whole year group.
