[Year 12 IT Apps] "Study and use"

Hi Mark,

I believe the difference between studying a tool and using a tool is, if they are required to study it, then they will be assessed on the tool during one of the outcomes. If they are required to use it but not study it they are saying students will need to use these tools to complete the outcome but are not assessed on the use of these tools.

I hope that adds further confusion.

Cheers,

Ben.

Subject: [Year 12 IT Apps] "Study and use"

Hi, lotus eaters.

The 2016 study design lists software tools for each unit. For some units (e.g. U3O1) students are required to "both study and use" certain tools. In other units (e.g. U3O2) they are "required to use, but not required to study" certain tools.

I'm not clear what "studying" a tool implies for assessment and teaching.
What difference does studying a tool make?

Mark
