Re: [Year 12 IT Apps] Year 12 Info TechHi Travis,

It doesn't matter what you or I or even your school thinks Psychology is. The VCAA says it is a Science subject.

I remember many years ago, 1967 to be exact, Geography was classed as both Science and Humanities at Form 5 to help kids satisfy course requirements. :-)

Litsa - My school tends to have more students doing Psychology as it is a Science.

At best a pseudo-Science. We classify it as a Humanities subject!

  Hi All,,

As someone who still works in "real world" IT, I see the course as highly relevant.

As to "real info tech", which IT stream are we talking about? Programming? Project Management? Systems Analyst? Systems Architect?

IT is Business management with specific set of skills - If IT cannot integrate successfully into a business, it will not be adopted effectively or run efficiently.

Perhaps we could move those business functions out of IT and into the business subjects because all subjects are supposed to have ICT and the business stuff is certainly not real computing science

Then we would be left with just computing in in the computing subject!!

The business people would be delighted because then they could teach it their way and teach "at the point of need to know" always a more effective way of ensuring students pay attention!

And we would all be happy because we could do real computing in the computing subject.

Here is an interesting question I could toss to this group to mull over.

When we consider the progressive declining enrollment in the year 12 IS and ITA, is there merit in a long term thought to combine the two into a single year 12 Info Tech subject?

No agenda, just plain old curious about your thoughts.

So let's get this back where it belongs! Or at least separate the ItApps and the SoftDev discussions.
