[Year 12 IT Apps] Student Exam Preparation Day 2010

I think it is fantastic that VITTA are now making videos available and
considering the recent calls for increased support for regional schools and
time-shifting events, we should all try to support this forward thinking
initiative. Even those schools that are attending should consider purchasing
a recording to reinforce the ideas being presented.

In defense of Adrian, no subject association can organise and host an event
like this on just good will alone with office overheads, venue, presenter
gift and meet their annual operating budget. Compared to other workshops I
have seen, $35 per head is great value for students that live in Melbourne.

George, it is good to question the costs and balance your options, we all
have limited dept budgets. From various conferences I have worked with, there
is a constant nagging worry that offering a streaming broadcast or video
could 'eat' into the event attendance, profit and thus future viability. The
reality is that 'Being There' is always going to be a better 3D experience
than replaying a video with the chance to ask questions or webinar, it also
give schools a greenhouse friendly option to support our professional
development and even permit time-shifting support for new teachers in 2011.

Go for it :-)

Regards Roland
