Martin,
You need to open the document in question and then click on the Office
Button and choose 'Convert'. Once you've done this the Equations Editor can
be used.
Hope this helps,
Jim

Subject: [Year 12 IT Apps] M/S Office 2007 Equations editor
Hi everyone, recently the new Notebooks came with Office 2007. Can anyone
tell me why Equations Editor in Word 07 is greyed out? And how can I get it
up and running again? Thank you
