Vitta practice examsHi Folks,
I would like to express a public word of thanks to Paul Gyulavary for his rapid response in trying to correct the mistake of distributing the VITTA practice exams on the itapps list. His public expression of regret and request to all those who received it to delete it from their inbox was the right and proper thing to do.
I also wish to express my thanks to Adrian Janson as VITTA president for his very measured and considered response to what was a major copyright breach and his handling of the situation with due courtesy and professionalism.
Finally, my thanks also to each congtributor to the thread for an equally diplomatic, yet firm response to the situation. You were all very respectful in your language and it has been a demonstration yet again of collective support in correcting a wrong by bringing all the sides together.
I just want to say how proud I am to be part of such a caring and professional group of people.
My best wishes to EVERY one of your students in the upcoming exams.

A very valid point and not pedantic at all.
Copyright material should not be passed around except if the recipient has paid for it, has not received it yet, and is desperately trying to give it to his/her students and time is fast running out with exams on the very fast approaching horizon.

I thank you for your apology - but wish to note that although you mistakenly sent the exams through to the lists instead of an intended single recipient, you should not have been sending them to anyone at all. If a request for the exams is made of you or anyone on this list, could you please refer them to the VITTA office so that they may purchase a copy? I apologise to the list for being pedantic about this, but I feel this needs to be clarified.

I just arrived back at my desk to find that the VITTA Practice Exams have been posted to the Edulists. If this has already been mentioned, I apologise - but I am responding to this issue with the urgency that is required.
VITTA exists to serve its members and is a not for profit subject association. By providing Professional Development, creating resources for teachers and through events such as our Annual Conference, we gather income that helps us keep on doing more of the same. Without your support via membership and attendance at these events, VITTA would very soon cease to exist.
In providing the practice exams to our members who purchase them in electronic format, we are doing a number of things. Firstly, we feel it is an efficient (and also cost effective way) to distribute the exams. Secondly, by purchasing the exams in the format, you are able to put them on your school network and this prevents printing many reams of paper (so is quite environmentally friendly - well. we like to think so!)
The big disadvantage of us producing the exams in this format, is that we trust that you will abide by the copyright legislation and not distribute them in any way (including to the Edulists). We really do rely on your goodwill in this regard in order that VITTA may be sustained.
Could I ask that anyone that has received these exams that has not purchased them from us, please delete them.
