Does anyone use FreeMind?
Does anyone have links or resources that would help a new user get
underway?
Thanks

The study design requires the students to record their decisions and
actions when creating a solution to the problem. I don't think they
need
to tediously record every decision made for the stages of the
problem-solving methodology, but rather to identify some key decisions
that had to be made (e.g. what form of user documentation) and what
actions they took (how did they carry out the decision) when solving
the
problem. The evaluation of their problem solving strategies could be
also recorded in this visual representation (for example, a
bubble/callout could house a comment, such as 'my decision to create
'x'
allows the user to simultaneously view documentation advice and their
own solution ...'
Students could, for example, use the following approach (of course,
they
would make it look visually appealing!):
Decision Options
Action
Impact of decision/action
(list the decision) (record available options)
(indicate action taken - could colour code option selected)
(evaluation component)

Can anyone clarify please?
Do the students mind map the problem-solving methodology as in the
text
book or the PSM and all the bits that they do - so more specific to
their own processes?
The assessment guide mentions all the phases? i'm not really sure.
Thank-you, Litsa

I just read this good magazine article that describes in detail
how to use Freemind to create a mindmap. I like the colourful recipe
context that the Author has baked into the tutorial.
Freemind in your kitchen (2007) by Gianluca Pignalberi
<http://www.freesoftwaremagazine.com/user/4>
http://www.freesoftwaremagazine.com/articles/making_mind_maps_with_freem
ind?page=all,1,2,3
I have uploaded a printable PDF version that you are welcome to
download and use in the classroom. I made this using Firefox /
Aardvark
addon / PDF Creator.
http://www.vitta.org.au/resources/detail.php?doc_id=3228
Like most FLOSS, not only are your student users free to
download, use, share or poke a stick at Freemind ... as a tutorial
bonus
they can get to try out the recipe for yourself. :-P

I've only come up with Inspiration too.
