this you tube channel has some good tutorials that I have used to teach myself Fusion with. Start with the absolute beginner stamp project.
Advice from a novice- watch the while tutorial from start to finish then go back and attempt it. Then you know where you are heading. That worked for me.

Just note: One thing about fusion, which is new, is that if you get students to sign up for it now, they are required to have a letter from their school or use their student school id now. This seems to have just been a new thing when signing up to a new account in the last few months. I presume that remote teaching surge around the world has meant that fusion has had a lot more customers! My semester 1 kids didn’t have to do it, but my semester 2 kids did. Their student id didn’t necessarily work so I had a letter for them to use with my school’s letter head and my signature on it. Pretty easy to do. See my attached one.
Make sure they use their school email address, and don’t let them sign up for the 30 day trial- they need the education licence.

I’m a big fan of Fusion 360.

Good mix of parametric, direct modelling, sketching workspaces with room to grow. At its basic level though, its very accessible for kids and more intuitive than expected. I’ve had year 8 students handle it well, even prefer it over “simpler” options.

I started using Onshape last year. It’s free, can run on most computers as it’s browser based.

I started using Fusion this year and wouldn’t look back (assuming computers can run it). They’re similar in they way you draw. Onshape seems to be a stripped back version of Fusion. We started with these tutorials on YT and students picked it up within a few weeks. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6yPKMSb6ja8&t=1s

Here’s a headphone stand I wasp laying around with. The renderings are fantastic. https://a360.co/30V5IbX

Change of topic.

I am trying to decide which CAD to use with kids. onshape or fusion 360
I am a novice at both myself.
Is one easier than the other?
Will be using it for preparing /designing for CNC and Laser cutting
We dont have access to desktop computers so students will be using their own devices and as far as I know these programs are available online?
