Undressed: 350 years of Underwear in Fashion - Bendigo Art Gallery

There is still time to book your group in to see the latest exhibition loaned from the V&A Museum to Bendigo Art Gallery before it finishes on 26 October.

Largely due to past embarrassment, the study of underwear is a relatively modern phenomenon. Fashion's hidden history is revealed in this exhibition that includes corsets, bustle pads, petticoats and brassieres, as well as a selection of men's underclothes, bringing together the garments that secretly and privately reduced, lifted, padded, adorned, revealed and concealed the body.  The objects range in date from 1750 to the present day and will be displayed alongside images and materials from the V&A's archives.

Highlights include Queen Victoria's undergarments and one of the earliest known bras, in addition to many rare, delicate and beautifully detailed items. Striking pieces by world famous fashion designers, including Calvin Klein, Christian Dior, Gianni Versace, Jean Paul Gaultier and Vivienne Westwood are shown alongside everyday essentials by major retailers such as Dickens & Jones and Marks & Spencer.

Cost for students: members - $3; non-members $5; accompanying teachers free.
