Roger,
I have just returned from the PSCIA conference in Albury.
One of the presenters was Dr Tony Pugatschew from Intellecta
Technologies with his demo of a Roland MDX-40 3D modelling machine.
He used and recommended the Pro Engineer program and you.
Can you put me on a list or something for information about the next
course, as I found the website posed too many questions.
Thanks, Shane.

I can thoroughly recommend Pro Engineer. This is a free 3D package by
PTC the world industry leader in 3D modelling.
To obtain the software teachers must complete a 12hr training course at
a cost of approx. $300.00. On completion of the course they receive the
software discs (schools edition) and each teacher is then able to
authorise a site licence for 300 seats.
DATTA Vic run these courses for which I am the instructor. We will be
running courses in term 3. Check with DATTA vic fro details.
The PTC website can be found at

Subject: [Design and Technology] CAD program
A couple of years ago, we switched from using TriCAD to Solid Edge for
our Year 9 CAD elective. It was also being used by senior technology
students in subjects such as Wood. Apart from being a much superior
program, the licence fee was very attractive. This year we experienced
some difficulties as the company has new owners. They want about $6,000
for the licence next year which we can't afford. Can anyone suggest
suitable alternative CAD software which isn't so expensive?
Thanks
