Noleen and Ross

I have very little knowledge of CASES/CASES21, however during the
business analysis and design stage for the HRMS Upgrade, a paper was
circulated concerning the interfaces between HRMS, CASES and CASES21. I
have copied the following text from that paper which hopefully sheds
some light on the issues you have been discussing.

The current business process for the HRMS/CASES interface has the DE&T
Employee Personal and Leave data entered directly into HRMS, and the
personal data for Local Employees or other people of interest directly
entered into CASES/CASES21. Until schools migrate to CASES21 Finance
they will continue to use CASES for locally paid employees and for
historical information.

A middleware interface exists between HRMS and CASES, and another
interface between CASES and CASES21 to allow the transfer of new and
updated DE&T Employee personal data from HRMS V7.5 to CASES21. In order
to extract the data from HRMS and transfer it to CASES21 the following
must occur: -

1. Updates to existing DE&T Employees or addition of new DE&T
Employees are made in HRMS;

2. An overnight job is run on HRMS which extracts data for CASES
where: -

*       The name of an DE&T Employee has changed in HRMS;

* Leave has been entered for a DE&T Employee in HRMS; or

* A new DE&T Employee has been added to HRMS.

3. The extracted data for a school is applied to the CASES local
database when that school next logs on to CASES as part of the CASES log
on processing;

4. An overnight scheduled job reads CASES and updates CASES21 where
there is a match on Employee ID for the DE&T Employee; and

5. If a new DE&T Employee is added to HRMS then the resulting
Employee ID must be manually added to CASES21 so that the data can be
matched in the overnight update process.

Hi Ross,

 I had an ongoing problem with 3 staff members' details either
disappearing entirely or reverting to her maiden name and address
details! This went on for ages and after many phone calls to call centre
and different attempts to fix the problem I found the only way was to
amend the details in old cases then C21 then HRMS all on the same day.
My new staff member had to be added to old cases. Also ensure the staff
code in C21 matched the code in old cases.

It's ridiculous that the details don't just transfer over from HRMS.

Good luck!

The ongoing saga for changing data in Cases - 21 - HRMS

We have an old Cases person with the initials of a new staff member and
their data has swapped! Wives and all !!!!

What is the correct sequence of events to make changes to staff details?
To update in 21 does the person have to be added to old Cases?

Old CASES? - then 21?

HRMS separately?

What a nightmare!
