I do exactly what you do; I record a half days absence as 3.8 hours.

Good morning all

 

I have asked this question many times of others but am interested in what the Business Managers list has to say –

 

Department Policy is that a full day for entering an absence is 7.6 hrs for a full day and half a day 3.8.  Therefore for ‘recording’ purpose our day is 8.30 – 4.30 with half an hour for lunch (give and take 10 minutes or so).  

 

Our ‘local’ policy is that staff don’t have to start until 8.50 and can leave after last period at 3.15.   I often get staff that query the 8.30 – 4.30 and are generally happy when I explain for ‘recording’ purposes the hours are 8.30 – 4.30 no matter what time you leave after 3.15.  

 

Unfortunately I have one staff member that is going to look into this further.  What do other schools do when faced with half day absence?   Eg.  If someone was absent until 11.00 am I would enter 2½ hours and for half a days absence in the afternoon that would start from 1.00pm.

 

How do you all handle this?
