Dear All
I have received this email from a colleague within VCAA regarding teachers that may be interested in working as part of the examination development panels in 2019.
Details regarding the panels including contact details are below.
Kind Regards
Phil.
Applications are still open for 2019 EXAMDEV panels on the SSMS online application site, but are due to close Sunday 19th August 2018.
You might be interested in some sessional work on an examination development panel (writing and reviewing VCE exams) with the VCAA Examinations Unit. Applications officially close on Sunday 19 August 2018 on the Sessional Staff Management Systems (SSMS).
Each panel has the following:
Panel Chair (1)
Exam Panel Member (2 or more, most have 3 or 4)
Study Specialist Reviewer (either 1 or 2)
Exam Sitter Reviewer (1)
Role descriptions for these are attached.
If you would like to apply, please go to ssms and apply as soon as practical. There is information regarding the EXAMDEV roles on the site, as well as a CONTACT page if you need assistance to apply. If you don't already have a VCAA ID and/or SSMS account, you will need to create one following the New User link on the Home page.
You are welcome to apply for any role or panel for which you would like to be considered, as each group of candidates is assessed every year to appoint the strongest possible panel for each exam and people regularly move on to create vacancies across the panels each year.
If you know of anyone who would be suitable and is interested in applying, please send them the link to apply. They should have appropriate skills and experience, no close relationships with students or teachers of the study or VET program, and must not be teaching the study or VET program in 2019.
The link to the application site is:

Information regarding the various studies and VET programs, as well as exam specifications, past papers and exam reports are available on the VCAA website, under the "Educators" tab:

What do the EXAMDEV panel roles involve?
There is a small amount of payment for being on an EXAMDEV panel, although the roles do not involve regular sessional work over the November 2018 to September 2019 period during which the papers are developed. For example, the Study Specialist Reviewer (usually a technical/industry/academic expert)is required to review the paper once in late Feb to Mar after the initial draft is submitted and the Exam Sitter Reviewer (usually an experienced teacher/trainer) is required to review the paper once in approximately June or July after it is desk top published. The Exam Panel Chair and Exam Panel Members write the draft, normally during Nov to mid Feb when it is submitted. They then come in the VCAA city Office to check and respond to various reviews during development (about once every 4 to 6 weeks) until the panel sign off the paper for printing in August/September.
