With the implementation of the Digital Technologies curriculum almost upon us, and the reaccreditation of the Algorithmics (Higher Education Scored Study) imminent, here is a golden opportunity to participate in a free PD session at the University of Melbourne. Below are the following details about this event.


Teaching computational thinking: Engaging students in real-world problem solving

                                                19th September, 2016 (9.30am - 4.00pm)

The two workshops aim to give teachers tools and resources to enhance problem solving skills in students. The sessions will demonstrate, using real-world problems, classroom lessons that introduce students from year 7-12 to a new way of thinking about problems. The skills taught include ways to model problems, different algorithmic approaches used to solve them, techniques to evaluate solutions and also skills needed to implementation solutions using a computer.

These workshops are targeted at year 7-12 teachers looking to: implement algorithms in mathematics; develop critical thinking skills; or introduce the VCE Algorithmics (HESS) course.
