[Yr7-10it] App Development for PC's

Hi,

I am using App Inventor as well. Initially I have a few problems getting it to work at the start of the unit. This time round, it worked ok at the start (doing tutorials) but now when the students are creating their own Apps I am having problems getting the emulator to work. Also the next lesson when the students continue to work on their Apps the images they used are really huge and they need to continually resize them. Not sure what is causing this and why I am having problems with it at the moment. Whether it is our school or MIT or google or........
Is anyone else having problems with the emulator?

Hi,
     It was working on only four or five computers and I showed the students few project  but gave up on teaching that last semester.  The emulator is working in my computer but I haven't checked whether it works on the students' computer.  I have updated the version of App inventor and have Windows 8.1 instead of Windows 7 in my computer so it could be any of those changes.   I will install it in my student's computer and let you know whether this time it is successful.

Were you able to resolve your firewall issue with the emulator and if so I would be grateful if you can tell me what was done. We seem to be having the same problem at our school and therefore missing out on this great resource.

Hi,
       I have used app inventor  classic before without any problem but last semester app inventor 2 had given trouble when using the emulator in my student's computer due to firewall.  Hopefully the new version may work better.  I am yet to try it this term. I used the following website for getting started. They have tutorials for the beginning lessons.
