Hi Adem,
I second your first question, I'd like to know about a good IT book
suitable for the digital technologies.
With regards to teaching programming I've used;
C#.NET, I trialled this one year, however, the students where not
interested in any serious programming. So I switched to the next option.
Adobe Flash using ActionScript 2, is a more visually orientated programming
and it provided a good lead into VET Multimedia. I used to teach this but
the are now better option out there.
Scratch (http://scratch.mit.edu/) with is more aimed at primary kids, I've
used it for year 7, and it does cover the concepts.
AppInventor (http://appinventor.mit.edu/explore/) which is similar to
scratch, but aimed at creating apps for an android mobile phone.
Games Salad, which is designed to create game on the Apple Mac, and it can
do apps for iOS devices.
Unreal Technologies, is the more hard core gamer creation tool and will
require a large investment of time to become good at it. I've dabbled with
this but not used it in the classroom.
Cheers,
Jamie Le Rossignol
