Hey All,
We are also going down 1:1 iPad for Year 5-11 next year, and staff have
just received theirs and students will soon. We also have a company
developing a school specific app for timetables, class lists, calendars,
roll marking etc which should be ready soon.
Here is our attempt at an "essential apps" list:
Keynote $10.49
Pages $10.49
Numbers $10.49
GoodReader $5.49
iresponse $0.99
iannotate $8.49
AVPlayerHD $2.99
Blue Reader free
Calculator free
Photoshop Express Free
Evernote Free
Kindle Free
Borders
Kobo Free
ABC iView Free
Dragon Dictation Free
Dropbox Free
TED Free
Flipboard Free
Overdrive media centre Free
The Age Free
Please note this is for everyone - Not individual subject lists.
However, I also would have Garageband and iMovie just 'cos they're cool!
I don't rate Numbers either, but some think it will be good so it's on
there. Also, our librarian played a large hand in making this list and
many of the free apps (Particularly the e-readers) were from her, so you
probably don't need that many.
Cheers
Trav

Kent,
As of 2012 we will be an Ipad School, 800 next year the remaining the
year after.
We have gone for a production application approach rather than apps for
subjects.
Happy to chat any time and site visits are definitely possible if you
don't mind the travel.
I am putting together a list of apps requested by domains at the moment
and their prices, we have a limit of $50 to cater for the students and
we are going with one standard set of apps across the school.

General question for all you iPAD users in classrooms..!
We here at St.B's are going down the iPAD path way in 2012. As part of
my role I seek out any information that you guys and gals out there may
have in the 'apps' that you have used for your iPADs either with staff
or students or both, what subject the app was used for and how much it
cost to download from the iTUNES store(or other location).
The first staffer to ask for this info has been my Maths co-ordinator
who is interested in Apps used for Maths topics(all secondary levels) or
even any texts available as an 'app'.
I would also be interested in feedback about the configuration of iPAD
machines being favored among users. We are looking at the 16/32/64Gb
options with Wi-Fi and 3G options for our (about to be) purchased
machines.
Any other info that you feel would be valuable from your experiences
with this tool/device would be appreciated.
Thanks heaps in advance.

have Barbara Ericsson ( Georgia Tech, USA) lead this workshop which will
introduce you to creating mobile apps using App Inventor. App Inventor
is similar to Scratch in that you do drag and drop programming. App
Inventor was originally created by Google for Android phones, but will
be supported by MIT in the future (Jan 2012).
After completing this workshop teachers will be able to:
Set up a computer and phone for App Inventor Create apps that use GUI
elements such as buttons, labels, image sprites, and timers Create apps
that use the accelerometer and camera Create apps that use lists Know
where to go for more tutorials and resources This workshop is free and
