Hi everyone,
Over the last few years I have moved from the classblogmeister
community of school bloggers:
http://www.classblogmeister.com/blog.php?blogger_id=97161
(this I found much easier to moderate and monitor because each student
blog was controlled by the teacher)
to Nings - yes I know nings now cost money but this can be as little
as a packet of white board markers ($20).
Last semester I used http://ghs2010.ning.com/
to set up a Maths help including video help tutorials that both myself
and my students made. They also took screen clips of their excel
graphs and google scketch up projects. Each student has their own blog
in a Ning and the teacher can setup a number of controls. examples can
be found at:

http://ghs2010.ning.com/group/mathshelp
http://ghs2010.ning.com/group/googlesketchyupinmaths
http://ghs2010.ning.com/forum/topics/ning-samples-and-work-from
This student was in both my maths and IT class -

Hope this helps
Cheers
