>Hi Paul,
Great to hear from you again, and to also to hear that I am on the same
track as you with the new abode suite that our school has just purchased
this year.
I agree Kevork Actionscript course was very good last year ...

I also have initially introduced Photoshop to creating collag layered
pictures (I prefer Fireworks s but they wanted Photoshop given it's
popularity). Students have cut and pasted pictures from the internet.
This has been an excellent activity as a pre intro to teaching Flash, as
layers and animation and programming the timeline are hard concepts to
teach in one hit. Also students do not need to have fantastic drawing
skills if the are able to cut out objects in Photoshop and import into
flash for animation.

In the creation of a short flash animate stories (such as a nursery
rhyme), I have also introduced scenes, as programming the timeline in one
big hit can be some want confusing. Scenes enable you to create short
animations that you can then run as a complete unit with the ability to
repeat scenes. This is very good for planning and matching to our
storyboard design sheet that we initially get the students to complete.

Year 8 have really enjoyed this unit of work! The only problem is that
abode products are resource hungry and I am constantly telling the
students to convert to jpeg and delete their original photoshop files...
No wonder the new ipad is not interested in running flash.
