Victorian Education Week 17th - 23rd May
Schools and kindergartens are opening their doors to parents and the
community during Education Week through information nights, open days,
student displays, performances and other special events that showcase
their programs and achievements.

Education Week will be celebrated by kindergartens and Victorian
government schools from 17-23 May 2009.

Highlights of Education Week will include:
School and Kindergarten Open Days - Schools and kindergartens are opening
their doors to parents and the community during Education Week to
showcase their achievements.
Awards Long Service, Parent, Retiring School Councillor and Community
Service awards are presented by the Department of Education and Early
Childhood Development and recognise long and exemplary service to
education in Victoria.
Victorian Education Excellence Awards presented by the Department of
Education and Early Childhood Development at a gala dinner, these awards
recognise outstanding contributions made by teachers, leaders and school
services/support officers to their schools and school communities.
Back to School Day (http://www.backtoschoolday.com.au/) high profile
media, sports and business identities visit their former primary and
secondary schools to share their success stories.

Get a behind the scenes experience of your local school or kindergarten
and discover all the fantastic programs that are helping our kids learn
about the world.
This is a great opportunity to see how the modern classroom works and the
chance to see some of your school's special projects and programs in

Parents and the local community are invited to attend open days and tours
of their school or kindergarten. Many are also holding events
particularly for grandparents and other special guests.
There are opportunities to experience how technology is being used in the
classroom with netbook and information technology presentations and
displays and events around specific subject areas such as science and
maths.
Some schools are also taking the opportunity to promote their special
areas of interest through gardening projects, celebrations of different
cultures in their community, and renewable energy workshops.
