This is a cool idea....we all have a few kids who are capable of going
beyond the formal ICT / IT offerings in school
Sometimes takes a bit to spot who they are - in my experience it
doesn't always go with high maths ability, which they look for in this
case - (that probably works as a filter, but maybe too narrow for some
kids) - a combination of maths and ability to write could also be
interesting
In general I think the option of uni extension is a good thing for some
kids - and electronic lectures make it easier - and I see they still
want face to face at tutes
(this is about 100 times better than the online masters course at melb
uni)
The classes would probably be good for a lot of us ICT teachers without
this background - self taught programmers etc - wouldn't hurt to sharpen
up the formal / computer science side of school ICT
Check his description of types of IT learners - first class at 15
minutes

easy"

Interesting comment.
Pity those of us who have a passion for teaching spend most of our
valuable time with CROWD CONTROL!
Maybe if the kids who know so much actually allowed us to do what we
need to in the classroom then perhaps those high flyers might actually
get a chance to PROVE just what they REALLY know!
Oh, in an ideal world...
As for uni's....shove em in a lecture room(as they do), then talk AT
them,..as they do, then give 'em tutes with a Phd student or Masters
student..as they do, then....etc..
High school..totally different situation!! (at least at Uni, a large
percentage of them actually WANT to be there!!)

Please note, dear colleagues, NOT suggesting the same is true for Vic!
