That's about the best school use of wikis I've seen
Like the points for discovery learning as you work it out as a class,
the interaction with the expert Joel, the student / teacher discussion
on folders vs tags
(not that I like the points per se, but helps you acknowledge what
they've all done in some way)
And of course the trialling of new s/w
Very cool

Subject: [Yr7-10it] Sugar (OLPC activities)
The one laptop per child (OLPC) or xo software is called Sugar. Sugar is
both a new operating system (OS) and a variety of educational activities
(applications). Earlier this year there was some turmoil within the OLPC
project which led to Walter Bender leaving and setting up Sugar Labs. It
is open source educational activities which work in a collaborative
framework and are currently being ported to a variety of other
platforms.
I've worked out how to run Sugar on Windows computers, by booting off
USB keys. This means that the software can be tested and evaluated in
the industrialised world even though the xo's are hard to obtain, being
earmarked for the developing world.
Students in a year 10 class at my school are currently evaluating Sugar
activities. Details can be found here:
